What’s bodywork?
What is bodywork you may ask? Well, I’ll give you my definition of it. Most of us start off as massage therapists and remain massage therapists throughout our careers if we only choose to see the body with a muscular scope. When you expand your knowledge, techniques and broaden your scope of the body you become a bodyworker. Massage is definitely in your tool box and for many of us it will always remain a base line. But what else is going on in there? What is truly causing this pain, this chronic inflammation? Is there a past injury, a past trauma that has not yet been addressed? Is the body intolerant of what is in your diet? Are you putting yourself in situations that are beyond your stress threshold? Has your body become numb? Whatever it may be a good bodywork session can start the healing process. Our bodies are amazing. For every cause there is an effect. For every distress there is a reaction to relieve it. Yet sometimes our bodies will just adapt to our inabilities or ignorance of our distress calls. So much so you are a walking rock, rigid, tight, bounded to yourself. Sometimes this shows itself in chronic pain, dis-ease or some do not feel anything at all until it’s too late- the numb state. It is time to let that go. Open those communicative channels again. The body is trying to talk to you. Give gratitude to your body and your body will give gratitude to you.
